The Power Pivot Ribbon interface is available only when you activate the Power Pivot Add-In. The Power Pivot Add-In does not install with every edition of Office. For example, if you have Office Home Edition, you cannot see or activate the Power Pivot Add-In and therefore cannot have access to the Power Pivot Ribbon interface.
As of this writing, the Power Pivot Add-In is available to you only if you have one of these editions of Office or Excel:
- Office 2013 or 2016 Professional Plus: Available only through volume licensing
- Office 365 Pro Plus: Available with an ongoing subscription to Office365.com

If you have any of these editions, you can activate the Power Pivot add-in by following these steps: Download from dropbox to mac.
- Open Excel and look for the Power Pivot tab on the Ribbon.
If you see the tab, the Power Pivot add-in is already activated. You can skip the remaining steps. - Go to the Excel Ribbon and choose File→Options.
- Choose the Add-Ins option on the left, and then look at the bottom of the dialog box for the Manage drop-down list. Select COM Add-Ins from that list, and then click Go.
- Look for Microsoft Office Power Pivot for Excel in the list of available COM add-ins, and select the check box next to this option. Click OK.
- If the Power Pivot tab does not appear in the Ribbon, close Excel and restart.

We are pleased to announce new feature updates to Power Pivot for Excel 2016 as part of your Office 365 subscription. These updates include the ability to save a relationship diagram view as a picture and enhancements to the relationship dialog experience. We also fixed a number of important bugs to improve your overall modeling user experience.
Save relationship diagram view as picture
Excel 2016 users can now save the data model diagram view as a high resolution image file that can then be used for sharing, printing or analyzing the data model. To create the image file, in the Power Pivot add-in, click File and then select Save View as Picture.
Enhanced Edit Relationship dialog creates faster and more accurate data relationships
Excel 2016 Power Pivot users can now manually add or edit a table relationship while exploring a sample of the data—up to five rows of data in a selected table. This helps create faster and more accurate relationships without the need to go back and forth to the data view every time you wish to create or edit a table relationship.
We have also added several usability goodies to the Edit Relationship dialog:
- Table selection using keyboard navigation—Type the first letter of a table name to move the first column name starting with the selected letter.
- Column selection using column navigation—Type the first letter of a column name to move the first column starting with the selected letter. Retype the same letter moves to the next column starting with the selected letter.
- Auto column suggestion for same column name in both tables—After selecting the first table and column, on the selection of the second table, if a column with the same name exists, it is auto-selected (works both ways).
